People often ask us when they should book their wedding photographer. Our policy is at least 6 months in advance, although there are exceptions to this rule. This reason is this…if you wait until the last minute, then there is a likely possibility that you won’t get the photographer you really want. Good photographers book up fast. So if you want to have the one of your choice, then book them as soon as possible. Once you have a date locked down, start working on it. If you wait until a month before, then you are going to have a hard time finding someone good. Just like the “perfect” venue, you want to make sure that you have a photographer that matches your style, your personality and your budget. That being said, DO YOUR RESEARCH. Do not, I repeat, do not, just go with whoever will give you the cheapest price. Often times, that will not be in your best interest in the long run. You can’t do your wedding over, so if your picture are terrible because you waited until the last minute or went with someone because they were the cheapest, then that’s exactly what you will have forever…terrible wedding pictures.
